2 weeks and counting!!!!!

As the two week mark is approaching I feel myself getting extremely nervous with a very long to do list of things I have to get done before surgery.....

I am going out this Friday night with a group of girlfriends for my last night out before surgery!!!!!

I has my pre-op appointment last Friday everything went well we discussed the surgery and he took a few more x-rays of  my right hip.
We discussed lab work and anethesia.  He basically told me he plans to do the same thing he did on the left maybe just a few more screws as the dysplasia is worse on the right so therefore he might have to cut my pelvis in more places than my left but basically the same concept.

I am so ready to get this surgery over with and be on the road to recovery from hopefully my last surgery EVER!!!!!!

I went hunting for the first time last weekend and actually it was very peaceful I thouroughly enjoyed it for sure!!!
So I hope to be able to go at least twice this coming weekend!!!

Things with Wesley are still going AMAZING!!!
We went to the Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan concert last Saturday and it was soooooo good.
We went with some good friend Amy and Stephen we always have so much fun when we hang out together!!

Well I will more thank likely update the day before surgery as im sure my mind will be running 100 miles an hour.

Our puppy Drake isnt so much a puppy anymore hes up to 40lbs!!! Hes as playful as ever him and Lillie have so much fun playing together!!!

Until then......... ;)

ANXIETY....

Well as the month mark is fastly approaching for my next surgery I find myself extremely anxious and nervous about this surgery.

I thought it would be the other way around since I know what to expect and will be better prepared but I find myself being the worry wart that I am.

I am losing focus on everyday activities because I get so nervous and my thoughts are interrupted by this upcoming surgery.  I try to keep my mind occupied with positive thoughts and honestly I am sick of my "hips" ruling my life.

I am so ready to be the outgoing person that I was before all this stuff surfaced for sure!!!

sorry for the rant I just had to get that out.....

ONE MONTH AND COUNTING

It's Been a rocky few months

Well my last post was in April and a lot sure has happened since then.

The unimaginable happened June 10th, I was home from work sick and around 3:00 in the afternoon I received a call from my brother Trier however when I answered the phone it was Lexington County EMS telling me that Trier had been in a wreck and that he was being transported to Palmetto Health Richland. My parents were out of town in Charleston for my father's job. The EMT wouldn't tell me anything on the phone he told me he was unable to release this information as I drove to the hospital I had a mix of emotions running through my mind. I finally reached the hospital and my boss and co-worker were there waiting for me to take me to meet with the patient liason. Shortly after I arrived I was taken to the consulation room where I met with the Dr's who saw him immediately on arrival.

They informed me that his facial injuries were very severe and that I probably wouldnt recognize him but that he was awake and aware of what was going on. He was very relieved to see me and was pretty upset as you can imagine. He didnt remember anything that happened.

I was able to go back and see him about 30 minutes after meeting with the Dr's. It was a sight I will NEVER forget my poor brothers face was completely crushed and he was completely unrecognizable. He was in a lot of pain and he was pretty shaken up by what had happened. He was driving down Hwy 378 and passed out behind the wheel crossed three lanes of traffic and went about 500 yards before taking down three pine trees.

He endured a lot of tests (MRI's CT scans, blood work galore) and a 12 hour reconstructive facial surgery by the most amazing plastic surgeon EVER Dr. Wasserman.

He also had a tracheotomy and his eyes were sutured shut as well as his jaw after surgery it was
very heart wrenching seeing my brother like this as he is a very outgoing person.
He kept his spirits very high while in the hospital and worked very hard and was discharged two weeks after the accident which was a true miracle.

He does look a little different but he is still the Trier that we all know and love inside.
He will more than likely have to have another surgery to repair his sinus cavitiy more since it was so badly crushed he is unable to breath through his nose at this point, but as Dr. Wasserman told him he wasnt really too concerned about that during the first surgery he was just worried about repairing the fractures throughout his face and working with what was there.

I had a very eye opening experience myself in July I had a few moles removed. I didnt really think anything of them I just wanted them off since I didnt really like the way they looked.

Well I got the phone call two weeks later that no one EVER wants to hear I was diagnosed with Skin Cancer (melanoma stage IB) I was told that it was caught early so that was a good thing. I scheduled surgery for August 20th to have it removed. I was extremely nervous, scared, and very surprised to say the least. I am only 27 how could this have happened to me.

I had surgery August 20th to remove the cancerous cells. The area removed was on my left calf. The surgery was pretty painful as were the days after. Due to the location of the incision it was pretty painful to put weight on my leg for a few days. I got my results back last week and they say that it looks like they got all of the cancerous cells but I will continue to get a 3 month checkup for the next 2 years.

I also took a loooong weekend vacation Sept 2-5 with some good friends and Wesley to Edisto Beach we had a really GREAT time!!! Wesley and I took a walk on the beach on morning and watched the sunrise and collected seashells something I have not done since I was really little it was really nice and peaceful.

Wesley went fising while we were there and caught a few stingrays it was really neat to see them that close.

I sat under a sun shelter the majority of the time on the beach. It was nice just to be able to get away from "life" for a few days

On a better note Wesley and I got a new puppy. A black labrador retriever named Drake. He is the sweetest thing ever he is 15 weeks this weekend and holds my heart for sure.

I have scheduled my right PAO surgery with Dr. Frederick Piehl for October 21, 2010 at Palmetto Health Baptist. It is about 5 weeks away and I am much more nervous about this one than I was the first one I am not really sure if that is due to the fact that I know what to expect or the fact that anything is possible.

I know that I will be laid up for quite sometime but also know that I have AMAZING friends and family will make this bearable as they did the last one.

I will update more once surgery gets closer and my recovering so that everyone will be able to keep updated on my progress, recovery etc.

I have a pre-op appointment scheduled for October 1, 2010 so until then.

Playing Catch up....

Well I suppose its been awhile since I posted so I have a lot to catch you guys up on....well I have been back at work for 2.5 months now its been nice to be back into the swing of things again and receiving a full paycheck doesnt hurt either!!!!

I am still loving my new car its been nice not having to worry about when my car is going to break down.
The second weekend in March Wesley and I traveled to Charleston to see Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, and Justin Moore!!! It was an AWESOME concert. We decided to make a weekend out of it we visited the Charleston Aquarium on the Habor if you ever make it to Charleston it is a must see. We also ate at a few local restaurants we ate at COAST and the food was so fresh and yummy. We also ate at Poogans Porch this is a place that you MUST EAT AT if you ever visit Charleston it is on Queen St and the food is sooooo good!!!! We also walked down to the battery and all around downtown Charleston. I absolutely love Charleston!!!

The last week of March I went to Myrtle Beach to celebrate one of my besties Bachelorette,we had a lot of fun besides me getting sick for the last two days. She will be getting married this weekend and I cannot wait!!!

The week after I came back I was sick that Monday so I didnt work then on Wednesday the unthinkable happened I fell at work in the cafeteria on my left operated hip, it was a pretty hard fall so I was extremely worried that I had severely hurt myself or worse fractured my hip. My supervisor sent me to employee health where they ordered x-rays, after the x-rays I was told to go home. As the day went on my hip was progressively getting sorer. I returned to work on Thursday only to receive a not so good report from my x-rays there was a possible fracture of my pubic remis, the nurse practicioner from employee health suggested that I go see my Orthopaedic surgeon, I made and appt for the next day. Luckily after seeing my Dr. everything checked out GREAT!!!!

After that relief I scheduled my right PAO surgery for October 21st at Palmetto Health Baptist!!! At that time the plan is to remove the screws in my left hip as well to cut down on an OR visit!!

I have my MRI scheduled for this Friday April 16th at 6:30 am at Palmetto Health Richland, I know its super early but my Dr. wanted the next available appt thank goodness I am off that day for Wedding related festivities!!!!

Things with Wesley are still going GREAT!!!! I spend every weekend out in Newberry with him and his family.
I was able to spend a day with my Grandfather (Brunink) and my Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Dan as they were passing through from a vacation in Hilton Head I was very excited for Wesley to meet them as they are associated with farming. It was very nice to see them as I dont see them very often.

BACK TO WORK!!!!

Alright so a lot has happened since my last post!!!!

I had a Dr. appt on January 15th (my 27th Birthday)
I was hoping he was going to give me some good news and let me know that I could return to work, however that was not the case. He did however diagnose me with sciatica. I have been having severe lower back pain and its been extremely hard for me to sit down and then get back up out of chairs.

He prescribed me Volataren (anti-inflammatory) and Lyrica ( a narcotic for nerve pain) both of these medications have done extreme wonders to help ease the nerve pain. Thank goodness beacuse at times it was unbearable.

I had an AMAZING Birthday thanks in part to my friends, family and of course WESLEY!!!
I spent the whole weekend in Newberry which was nice I absolutely love it out there. Wesley and I went to Spartanburg for my Birthday dinner ;) . He went above and beyond with my gifts, he added to my Vera Bradley stuff that he got me for Christmas, a new Lolita wine glass to add to my collection, a pair of Costa Del Mar sunglasses!!! and a few other things!!!!

I had been having a lot of car problems over the past two months so I decided it was time to start looking for a new car, I went to Midlands Honda to drive a navy blue 2007 Civic that I had been eyeing for a few weeks, let me just tell you something was wrong with the transmission on that car so no luck there so I continued to search and found a BEAUTIFUL white 2007 Civic at Galeana Chrysler Jeep, I drove this around for a whole entire day and absolutely loved it I was determined to get that car, however when I woke up the next morning I searched auto trader one more time to see what else was out there and there it was a 2008 Honda Civic fully loaded leather seats, moonroof, heated mirrors, heated seats and a beautiful Brown Metallic color I knew I had to test drive it. I went to Toyota Center and Spoke with Larry Summers I left my old car there to test drive the other one ( yet did I know it would be the last time driving my old car) as soon as I drove off the lot I knew this would be my new car!!!!

so on January 28th I got a new 2008 Honda Civic EX-L and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!

so on February 1st I RETURNED TO WORK!!!!!!
It was such a nice feeling to be able to go back to work I missed my co-workers so terribly It has been nice being back.

I had another follow up visit with Dr. Piehl February 3rd, we discussed surgery on my right hip but he told me until I am completely pain free on my left he doesnt want to discuss surgery on my right but said this fall might be a possibility, I know some people think I am crazy for wanting to do them so close together but I would rather go ahead and get it over with and move on with my life then continue to live with pain that I know can be fixed with surgery. My next appointment is April 2nd!!!

Well until next time!!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

It has been way too long since I have updated last, things have been so crazy over the Holidays that I have been away from the house most of the past month.

I had my last Ortho visit December 11th and he told me I can be CRUTCH FREE!!!
He also wrote me my prescription for P.T I started P.T December 18th and I have been three times. Who knew stuff that was sooooo easy before surgery would be so incredibly hard and painful but I guess that comes with the territory.

My next Ortho appt is January 15th (my 27th Birthday!!!!!). We will begin discussing my next surgery at that appointment we are shooting for October for my right hip so hopefully that will be feasible with my job and his schedule.

The Holidays with mine and Wesleys family was awesome.

I spent Christmas Eve with Wesley, we opened our gifts to each other and Wesley spoiled me so incredibly much I had an AWESOME Christmas!!! That night we ate dinner at his Grandparents and opened gifts.
Christmas morning we opened gifts with Wesleys parents and brother, then ate lunch with his the rest of his extended family.
After that we headed to my parents house to do Christmas with my family.
It was a nice Christmas thats for sure.

The following Monday we headed to Charlotte to Bass Pro Shops to spend our Christmas money. I got lots of goodies from Bass Pro and Eddie Bauer!!!

I am looking forward to returning to work on February 1st I really miss my co-workers a lot. Hopefully it will not be too hard to get back into the swing of things. I know the hardest adjustment will be waking up early as I usually sleep till around 11 or 12... ;)

Things with Wesley are going AMAZING he makes me so incredibly happy and I can truly be myself around him. He has been by my side since day one of this journey and continues to lift my spirits daily!!!!
I promise to update again soon, probably after my next Ortho appt on the 15th.
Until then HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!!
